Arakan Front Party (AFP) and People’s Party (PP) are going to run in the election of the representatives of the political parties of the Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC), the chairman of the AFP Dr. Aye Maung told the NP News.

The event of electing the representative of the political parties of the UPDJC will be held on April 27 at the office located on Shwe Li Road, Kamayut Township, Yangon.

“We put the name in the candidate list. U Ko Ko Gyi’s party and Mon Unity Party will be running too. Yangon Region Chairman of the Union Betterment Party Tin Maung Oo will also be taking part,” Dr. Aye Maung said.

He said that the political parties should be involved in the political parties group of the UPDJC for the country’s internal peace.

“At this moment, National Solidarity and Peace Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) is the front-line group representing the SAC. The NSPNC is led by Lieutenant General Yar Pyae and Lieutenant General Min Naung. The EAOs have the opportunity to meet with the NSPNC and discuss. As per the current situation, reorganizing the political parties group in the UPDJC is necessary so that we can meet with both NCA-signatory groups and non-signatory groups,” he continued.

Existing political parties group of the UPDJC has invited all political parties to take part running in the election of the representative of the political parties of the UPDJC which will be held on April 27 for the country’s peace.

Sai Aik Paung is the vice-chairman of the current UPDJC’s political parties group. At least ten facts will be involved in laying down the criteria for the representative in the upcoming election.

Some political parties ask for liberalization of criteria and rules for the UPDJC’s political parties' representative election, according to Dr. Aye Maung.

At present, there are 92 political parties in the country, from which 16 will be elected as the committee while another 16 will be elected as the sub-committee of the political parties group of the UPDJC.
