Myanmar re-allows online e-visa systems for tourists

Online applications for tourist visa are re-allowed by Myanmar, according to the meeting held on May 12 discussing issuance tourist visa.
Deputy Minister for Immigration and Population Htay Hlaing said, “The ministry plans to allow issuance of e-visa for the tourists. It’s important to provide complete information and prepare necessaries planning for the tourists who will come to our country.”
The relevant departments have to be ensuring providing full information on the requirements and criteria in the e-visa application process, he added.
Business e-visa has been re-issued since April 1, 2022. International flight schedules have also been allowed since April 17 for both departure and arrival at the Yangon International Airport.
Online visa application process started on September 1, 2014. Tourist e-visa is available for 100 countries and business e-visa is available for 55 countries.
Limitations and temporary suspensions in flight schedules and visa processes entering Myanmar were made since March 23, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
