NP News - July 11
Ministry of Commerce regulates the systematic import of palm oil into the country, according to the Union Minister Dr. Pwint San saying that the ministry is working to distribute palm oil with Consumer Pack instead of barrels.

The minister revealed this information on July 8 during the visit to Six Winners Brothers Co.Ltd’s oil tanks in Yangon.

“When the palm oils are sold with consumer pack with full compliance to marking issued by the relevant department, the companies will be held accountable and protect consumer rights and interests,” said the union minister.

The Minister urged to produce quality palm oil in the domestic and import oil from foreign as per the rules and regulations and to increase domestic oil production.

Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun told during the 17th press conference that domestic production of edible oil is insufficient for local consumption as the daily consumption is getting high.

Per capita consumption of edible oils in Myanmar, according to the survey in 2021, was calculated based on 15,935 people from 3,945 sample households in 15 states/regions. The statistic shows the average per capita oil consumption per year was approximately 15 kg.
