Arakan Army notifies armed clash warning in Rakhine State

United League of Arakan/ Arakan Army issued a notification on July 19 on potentiality of resuming armed conflicts in Rakhine State.

Fire exchange occurred on July 18 after the Arakan Army the Tatmadaw troop which took foothold between Saung Panyar village and Sankar Pinyin village located in Maungdaw.

In couple of weeks ago, the AA troop which took foothold in Kayin State border area was attacked in air strike by the Tatmadaw air forces, in which six AA members died.

Therefore, military activities and preparations are made in Rakhine State, said the AA’s statement adding that the public are urged to be cautious as armed clashes may continue intensified.

Dr. Aye Maung, the chairman of Arakan Front Party urged both the Defense Services and the AA to mutually release the detainees so as to ease the military tensions.

Recently the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services Deputy Senior General Soe Win requested the public to prevent altogether the recurrence of armed conflicts in Rakhine State when he visited Rakhine State in June.
