More than 420 new workers from Myanmar depart to South Korea in August

There are a total of 422 new workers from Myanmar who headed to South Korea for employment, according to the data released by the Myanmar Embassy in South Korea.
The figure of 422 workers is accounted within August 1 to August 11, 2022.
South Korean government returns accepted the entry of Myanmar migrant workers since recently.
The labour attaché from Myanmar Embassy in Seoul welcomes the newly comers and provides assistance and facilitation for their needs upon their arrival.
According to the data from Myanmar Embassy, there were 127 new migrant workers for manufacturing sectors on August 2; 39 workers on August 4; 14 new workers for agricultural and husbandry sectors and 135 production workers on August 9, a total of 149 new workers; and 107 new workers in production sectors on August 11. In addition, a total of 39 workers re-entered within that period.
Myanmar workers have been re-allowed sending to South Korea by authorities from both countries since late 2021 and early 2022 after the Covid pandemic was controlled.
There are a total of more than 42,000 workers Myanmar has been sending migrant workers to the Republic of Korea since 2011, according to the Ministry of Labour.
Only those who passed the EPS-TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) exam will have job opportunities in Korea with the assistance of the employment agencies.
Not everyone who passed the EPS will get a job since only those who will be chosen by the employer will get a job.
