Rebels use human shield in Sagaing Bridge shooting

Myanmar’s newly rebel group ‘People Defense Forces’ globally known as PDFs used human shields this morning (August 17) in the Sagaing Bridge incident of fire exchanging, SAC’s spokesperson Major General Zaw Min Tun said.
Major General Zaw Min Tun told this information to the public at the commencement of the press conference held today in Naypyidaw before telling the PC’s agendas.
This morning at an estimated 8:30 am when the authorities’ security forces stopped an express ‘Arkartha’ at the checkpoint located at Sagaing Bridge, three PDFs who were in the express resisted and fired.
In the incident, one man died as collateral damage. The PDFs used a woman as a resistance measure, Major General Zaw Min Tun continued. The woman who was used as a human shield was injured in the leg and died from shock.
Two PDFs were caught dead. Authorities seized one PDF alive and three new rifles, Major General Zaw Min Tun confirmed.
He continued, “We urge the public to be aware of terrorists when traveling. In case of finding any suspicion when traveling with the express or the YBS (in Yangon city), please inform the counter-terrorism forces and cooperate with them.”
In recent days, an express vehicle known as ‘Elite’ was attacked on Mandalay-Monywa Road by the terrorists. Both the vehicle and passengers went missing.
