Power towers blown up in Kayin State

The transmission towers near Kawnwey Village located in Kawkareik township of Kayin State were sabotaged by terrorists which caused a power outage within the surrounding, according to data released by the State Administration Council (SAC).

The incident took place on August 20 at an estimated 11 pm at power line No. 230, KV tower No. 172, and tower No. 173 by the terrorists on Mawlamyaing-Myawaddy Road, the SAC’s statement said.

One of the bottom pillars of No. 172 tower and No. 173 tower were damaged in the explosion. Power outages occurred in Kyonedoe, Kawkereik, Myawaddy, and Kyarinnseikgyi cities due to the sabotages.

Authorities and relevant departments are working on repairing the damaged towers that were blown up by the terrorists with a mine attack.
