A civil servant shot dead in Kayin State while fixing sabotaged tower station

One died and four were injured in an ambush attack by the terrorists against the civil servants who were fixing the damaged electric tower stations which were sabotaged by planted mine, the State Administration Council released a statement.

The incident happened on August 29 at an estimated 3:30 pm near Kawnwey Village located in Kawkareik, Kayin State.

The transmission towers near Kawnwey Village located in Kawkareik township of Kayin State were sabotaged by Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) troops and PDF terrorists on August 20 at an estimated 11 pm. Due to the incident, power outages occurred within the surrounding villages, according to the data released by the State Administration Council (SAC).

Experienced civil service officers from Mawlamying township National Grid Electric Office carried out fixing the damaged towers.

While the civil servants were conducting the repairing works of the power line 230 KV tower No. 172, the KNLA and PDF allied group with approximately 20 forces lurked and attacked the civil servants with RPG, 40mm artilleries, and different kinds of rifles and firearms, the SAC stated.
