The Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack (GCPEA) said in its report that was released on September 9 that violent attacks on schools increased in 2021 as conflicts intensified within the country following the February 2021 takeover.

During the fire conflicts, the armed groups used education facilities primarily as bases, to store weapons, and as fighting positions and at least they used the schools as detention sites.

The statement addressed, “The GCPEA found that over a quarter of schools and universities used for military purposes in Myanmar in 2021 were later targeted, threatening lives, and destroying education infrastructure.”

The GCPEA urged all non-state armed groups to sign onto Geneva Call’s Deed of Commitment for the Protection of Children from the Effects of Armed Conflict, which includes protections for education spaces.

The 2021 Spring Revolution of Myanmar actually turned into committing war crimes against education and public health sectors, and the Buddhist religion instead of fighting back against the Defense Services.

Thousands of lay people, teachers, doctors, Buddhist monks and nuns, and other professionals from different walks of life have been murdered allegedly as ‘Informers/ Dalans (traitors)’ by the terrorists.

Reported data says almost 5,000 Myanmar citizens have already been murdered or killed during the whole crisis as of August 2022.

NUG-installed terrorists coin the current public education as ‘Military Slave Education’. They usually accelerated their terror intents mostly during school opening time, examination period, and matriculation exam period.
