21 political parties still possess nine digits of fund - UEC

Union Election Commission (UEC) stated that a total of 14 political parties have no funding asset at all at present while other 21 political parties possess more than nine digits of party’s funds among 92 total political parties.
Spokesperson of the UEC Khin Maung Oo informed it during the press conference held in Naypyidaw yesterday.
The commission has examined 85 political parties out of 92. Amongst, a total of 30 political parties have eight digits of the party funding at present; 20 other possess lower than eight digits while 14 other possess no party fund at all, Khin Maung Oo said.
“The commission will continue carrying out related processes to convene free and fair election and to become developed strong political parties in accordance with laws, rules and regulations,” Khin Maung Oo said.
There are only four parties that have capacity to recruit and organize more than ten thousand members while there are only eight parties that have capacity to recruit 500-1000 members, the commission said.
With respect to capacity to run in the candidacy, there are three parties that have capacity to run up to more than 500 candidates; seven parties have capacity to run up to more than 100 candidates; four have up to 50-100 candidates; 28 parties have up to 10-50 candidates while 45 political parties have capacity to run only lower than ten candidates, the commission said.
