Myanmar and China make deals to invest in livestock sectors

Two immediate countries, Myanmar and China, made investment agreements to expand the livestock industry in Myanmar, according to the Myanmar Livestock Federation (MLF).

Chamber of Commerce of Dehong Prefecture, Yunnan Province and Myanmar Livestock Federation signed an MoU in late September 2022 on bilateral cooperation for livestock industry development in Myanmar.

“Myanmar has good quality land and water resources to produce quality livestock products. On the other hand, China has an extensive market good enough to sell Myanmar products,” an official from MLF said.

Dehong locates at a key place for Myanmar-China trade as it locates in Yunnan province territorially connected with Myanmar.

The MoU is intended to engage a pragmatic cooperation in both researches and tactics for the development of Myanmar livestock sector.

Livestock and poultry trade shows are agreed to be held in Mandalay, Naypyidaw or Mangshi, Ruili townships. Husbandry and livestock technology, equipment, animal foods and medicines and other input factors will be exhibited at the events.

The country’s export products from livestock industry in 2022-23 FY as of end of July is USD 212.996 million.
