Tourists from 79 countries visiting and entering Myanmar – Tourism Minister

The Union Minister of the Hotel and Traveling Ministry Dr. Htay Aung said that tourists from 79 countries are visiting and entering Myanmar since Myanmar released suspensions of international flight schedules.
The union minister told this information when he met with officials from FDI hotels at Inya Lake Hotel in Yangon recently.
International flights have been re-operating since April 17, 2022; and applications for e-business visas and e-tourist visas are accepted at the Myanmar embassies in the relevant countries, the minister said.
The minister also urged the businessmen to pay the liable taxes, fees, and charges on a regular basis to the State, saying that Myanmar has already granted visa-free travel for Russia and eight ASEAN countries.
The tourism sector including the hotel industry of both foreign investments and national investments is expected to re-boom in the upcoming opening season.
The number of tourists incoming into Myanmar recently back to increasing despite the industry being stagnant in previous months due to the Covid-19 pandemic and political transition.
