Hsu/ Myo Gyi (NP News) - Oct 10

Two of the Arakan Front Party (AFP) were recently detained by an unknown armed force. One was released while the rest one is still detained.

The central committee member of the AFP named ‘Maung Kaung’ was released on October 6.

However, the rest who is the former parliamentarian and also the advisor of the AFP, Kyaw Lwin, is still being detained.
The AFP chairman Dr. Aye Maung requested an immediate release of him as soon as possible.

The two AFP members were abducted by an unknown group on October 4 for an unknown reason, AFP chairman Dr. Aye Maung said.

“One of them was released yesterday evening. However, we don’t know who abducted them and where the rest one is detained now,” he told NP News.

“We cannot make any confirmation yet. Maung Kaung, who was released, did not tell me which organization captured him. The Arakan Army hasn’t released any statement of responsibility. We don’t know why they were detained by that organization. I would like to ask the organization that abducted my two members for the immediate release of the rest,” Dr. Aye Maung said.

The State-armed troop denied capturing those AFP members, confirmed by Dr. Aye Maung.

“I cannot make contact with the senior leaders from the AA or ALP. Rakhine has two ethnic armed forces. Therefore, it is difficult to tell which organization has the responsibility. We strongly demand the immediate release of the remaining one immediately,” Dr. Aye Maung continued.

The remaining Kyaw Lwin wrote remarks and assumptions with regard to the murder in which a female education officer of Maungdaw District Dr. San San Myint was attacked by stabbing by three men; he posted it on his social media; highlighting that any form of terror intent is unacceptable.

Kyaw Lwin wrote that he won’t accept any act of terror merits especially on Buddhist monks, and educational and health civil servants, Dr. Aye Maung said.
