The Peace Process Steering Team (PPST) remarks that the recent invitation to discuss peace among ethnic armed forces that was proposed by the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) is a good move to overcome the current political crisis since the NCA political talks are diminishing.

The PPST spokesperson Colonel Saw Kyaw Nyunt made the abovementioned remark to NP News.

The RCSS invited other EAOs from Shan State and across the country to hold talks on peace yesterday providing a four-month period from October 10, 2022 to February 10, 2023.

Col. Saw Kyaw Nyunt said, “This is the pure attempt within our capacity and the most suitable approach for our citizens to help them overcome all the predicaments. Under this ongoing irregular political movement, the political dialogues based on the NCA are diminishing; and this is the best as far as we can do.”

The RCSS is not only an NCA signatory group but also a member of the PPST.

The proposed invitation is intended to construct mutual access, mutual understanding, trust building, and resolve the political dilemma through the political means for the public and the country, as stated by the RCSS in the proposal.

He continued, “Even though all-inclusive peace talks cannot be yet implemented, this proposal is said to be a constructive move, realistic and a fundamental attempt with the involvements of all accessible organizations and stakeholders.”

The chairman of RCSS, General Yawd Serk attended the peace talk two times invited by the Head of the State Administration Council Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
