Pyin-Oo-Lwin Tazaungdaing balloon festival to start on November 4

Pyin-Oo-Lwin’s Maha Enthtookanthar Pagoda 16th Tazaungdaing hot-air balloon festival will be commenced on November 4-8 for five days.
Authorities plan to convene the festival this year, after two years of suspensions due to the Covid pandemic and political unrest, to uplift the city’s tranquility and financial development, Mandalay Chief Minister Maung Ko said during the meeting on 29 October.
Pyin-Oo-Lwin Tazaungdaing festival has been held every year since 2005 except in 2020 and 2021.
Mathoe Robe Weaving celebration will be started at 5 am on 4 November on the platform of Maha Enthtookanthar Pagoda; and the celebration of lighting 9,000 candles will be started at 6 pm on the platform of Maha Enthtookanthar Pagoda.
The Chief Minister said a total of 46 teams will be competing in the festival with 16 hot-air balloons, 14 arts with fireworks, and daytime decorated balloons.
Other games will also be involved in the festival with cane ball, Sepak Takraw, volleyball and futsal. Those will be commenced on 5th November daily from 8 am to 6 pm.
Every year in normal situations in Myanmar, both domestic and foreign travelers enjoy Tazaungdaing hot-air balloon festival, especially in Taunggyi and Pyin-Oo-Lwin.
