Locally renowned poet-cum-novelist Akyi Taw passed away

One of the famous authors in Myanmar ‘#Akyi Taw’ passed away at 51 on 9th November at an estimated 8:30 pm at Yangon’s Pinlon Hospital. His original name is Saw Kyi Phyu.
He suffered from stomach respiratory cancer and had medical treatment in Bangkok, Thailand in September 2022.
The name ‘Akyi Taw’ is a pen name that he had started using since 2003. He joined the Myanmar literary arena in 1988 at 17 years old age. His novels and fictitious prose narratives oriented humorous and modern writings.
Akyi Taw wrote more than 80 novels plus poems. Many of his creations were converted into films and plays. Many of his novels which were converted into movies were nominated and rewarded for the Myanmar Motions Pictures Awards.
