Myanmar invites RusHydro Group for uplifting hydropower sector

Expertise from Russia’s #RusHydro_Group is reportedly to be arriving in #Myanmar in 2023 January and February to study water resources and provide technical assistance.

Union Minister for Electric Power Thaung Han is currently in #Russia Federation to attend the research exploratory journey and 12th #ATOMEXPO 2022.

The Union Minister Thaung Han paid a visit to Zagorskaya PSPP hydro-based power plant near Moscow and met with responsible personnel from RusHydro Group and Zagorskaya PSPP, according to the data released by the State Administration Council. He invited new investments to make in Myanmar’s hydropower sector.

RusHydro Group is an infrastructure company and one of Russia's largest power-generating companies maintaining the key strategic energy systems and hydroelectric power station reservoir systems and ensuring their safe functionality, ensuring value growth of its assets, and providing a return to shareholders, including its key shareholder – the Russian Federation.

There are 27 hydropower plants in Myanmar as of 2018. Another 16 projects are in process.
