No legal mine project in Payathonzu area; but KNU Brigade 6 moving – Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun

State Administration Council’s Spokesperson Major General Zaw Min Tun confirmed there isn’t any legal mining project in #Payathozu area’s Tha Vu mine site located in Kyarinseikgyi township, #Kayin State. Only #KNU_Brigade 6 is moving there and operation was conducted over a security concerns.
Regional reports say that the Myanmar Military launched air strikes at the mining area located in Payathonzu area at an estimated 1 am on 16th November in which foreigners were reportedly killed.
Major General Zaw Min Tun said, “No mining project is allowed legally to run in those areas. There are only illegal excavation works that are led by the #KNU Brigade 6. The photos published by some news outlets can prove KNU uniforms wearing in the deaths.”
He continued that there were incidents that the KNDO (the armed wing of the KNU) killed a total of 47 civilians of both genders including children in construction site on Maw Khee road; 25 corpses were found tied behind their back; and security outposts were attacked by joint forces of KNU Brigade 6 and PDFs.
Authorities cannot confirm the fatality of foreigners in the attack. However, “We observed fatality of foreigners in some news. But we cannot confirm it. If it was so, they must be those who came to do illegal things in those areas. And it isn’t possible that those foreigners are arriving there without knowledge of KNU Brigade 6.
Mine excavations were allowed before 2016. However, the projects were expired after 2016.
