The #ASEAN chair’s special envoy to Myanmar and the Cambodian foreign minister #Prak_Sokhonn welcomed #Myanmar for the release of prisoners yesterday (17 November) and he planned to make his third-time visit to Myanmar in the upcoming weeks, according to the Phnom Penh Post.
Myanmar released nearly 6,000 prisoners yesterday on her 102nd National Day including Australian Sean Turnell, British Vicky Bowman, Japanese national filmmakers, ex-ministers and some Central Executive Committee members of the National League for Democracy.
Myanmar just stepped an obvious sign of signs of progress in the formulation of the ASEAN #Five_Point_Consensus.
“The special envoy considers this mass prisoner release as an important gesture in the right direction to create a conducive environment for the commencement of a dialogue process among all concerned parties in Myanmar,” the Phnom Penh Post quoted.
The State Administration Council also liberalized 11 celebrities from charging Section 505 of the Penal Codes.
