No-deal was made in release of foreign legats – Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun

Any political deal or give-and-take was taken part in the #release_of_prisoners, especially the foreigners, but to preserve the diplomatic binds, said the Spokesperson of the State Administration Council Major General #Zaw_Min_Tun.

The foreign prisoners including Australian #Sean_Turnell, British #Vicky_Bowman, Japanese #Toru_Kubota and the US citizen Myanmar originate Kyaw Htay Oo were released yesterday just on the ground to preserve the diplomatic ties between the related countries.

The Spokesperson addressed it during the press conference held today in Naypyidaw.

“None of the political deals or compromises drove to release the prisoners. There is nothing such thing or we don’t need to do such a deal. They were arrested under the Penal Codes. We didn’t arrest them because to conduct the political bargaining,” he said.

Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun continued, “If we arrested them to make political bargaining, the legal sections prosecuted were different. They were arrested in accordance with the Penal Codes. That’s for sure.”

#Australian_Embassy and other entities from the political spectrum conducted different means of approaching the State Administration Council (SAC) for the release of Sean Turnell since early before. The SAC reportedly denied the approached persuasions on the issue.

“With regard to Sean Turnell, the Australian side contacted us via different channels. They tried through the embassy. There were other specific persons involved wherein making attempting to release him. We didn’t accept any deal. We don’t need to do it. We know the attitudes of those countries,” said Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun.

“We only have one intention. We want to preserve diplomatic relations with the respective country. That’s why we released them,” he said.

A total of 5774 prisoners were released yesterday on the 102nd National Day of Myanmar under Section 401(1) of the Criminal Procedure Codes.
