Gwa Chaung Bridge between Ayeyarwady and Rakhine to be opened within December

The #Gwa_Chaung_Bridge that will be connected between Ayeyarwady Region and Rakhine State will be opened before 2023, according to the information released by the State Administration Council (SAC). The bridge is expected to uplift the country’s tourism sector.

The bridge will run from Ayeyarwady Region’s Ngayout Kaung township from Ngaputaw to Rakhine State’s Gwa town. It will be a vital passing over between the following offshore townships Sinma-Ngwesaung-Chaungthar-Shwe Thaung Yan-Ma Gyi Pin-Kyauk Chun-Gwa.

Construction of the bridge was started November 18, 2019. Total length of 1398 ft long bridge costed almost nine billion in its construction. The bridge has load capacity of 75 tons per vehicle.

The SAC expected to improve the trade route between Rakhine and Yangon passing through Ayeyarwady Region as well as uplifting transportation and socioeconomic of regions.

At present, the bridge was allowed to pass for only under three tons only for emergency pass.
