The #Mawlamyine_Airport is arranged to move to the new place as the Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said.
He highlighted it during his visit to the Mawlamyine Airport after opening ceremony of the new building of the Mon State Supreme Court on December 20.
The government is planning to construct a new airport site for the Mawlamyine Airport as the current airport location is too much close to the city and university areas, which therefore, restricts to extend flight schedules or to expand the runway, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said.
The new site, although it hasn’t designated yet, is projected to be fit to land all types of flights from the domestic airlines so as to assist the development of Mon State and Kayin State, Senior General continued.
In addition, the processes are being carried out to build a new rail channel between Mawlamyine and Dawei.
