Police officer shot dead on first day of inspecting ground population

A junior police officer who guarded the inspection team of taking survey for the #ground_population was shot dead on the first day of conducting the project by #terrorists on January 9 at an estimated 11 am in Tanintharyi Region.

The incident took place near the primary school located in Kamyaw village in Launglon township, Tanintharyi Region.

The junior police officer is identified police sub-lieutenant Thein Htike. He was shot to dead on the spot while he was guarding for security for the inspectors who took ground population in the residential wards on Dawei-Maungmagan Road.

Four gunmen shot him, according to an official from Tanintharyi Region Government told the NP News.

It was the first day of conducting the project of inspecting the population on the ground nationwide. The project will be carried out up to January 31 by the joint teams of officials from the Immigration, Administration and Union Election Commission.
