600 Myanmar detained migrants in Ranong IDC to be returned in February

The Myanmar Embassy in Thailand announced that 600 Myanmar nationals who are detained in the Immigration Detention Center in Ranong will be returned to Myanmar on February 2.

The Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok issued the above notification on the morning of January 30.

The Myanmar national detainees advocated on January 28 to return to Kawthaung.

Therefore, on January 29, a Labor Attaché from the Myanmar Embassy held a meeting with the detained #Myanmar_migrant worker leaders and officials of the IDC, according to the statement.

As per the negotiations, 220 of the 600 detainees will be sent back to Myanmar on February 2.

The remaining others will be transported on February 8 and 15 respectively, and they are being transferred with a limited number due to Covid-19.
