Changes in core bodies of Myanmar cabinet beyond 2nd year of Constituted Coup

Big changes occurred in Myanmar cabinet after another six months extension of the emergency rule on February 1, 2023.

The State Administration Council was reorganized replacing members; most civilian ex-SAC members were relocated in the Central Advisory Body; former Union Minister for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Wunna Maung Lwin becomes the member of the SAC while former Chief Minister of Mandalay Region Maung Ko and former Chief Minister of Rakhine State Chief Minister Dr. Aung Kyaw Min become the SAC members. In addition, a female ex-parliamentarian of Pyithu Hluttaw representing Kachin constituency Dwe Bu also becomes the SAC member.

Seven ex-SAC members including Thein Nyunt, Khin Maung Swe, Aye Nu Sein, Moung Har, Sai Lone Saing, Saw Daniel and Dr. Banyar Aung Moe, have been appointed as the members of the Central Advisory Body for the SAC.

Again, the cabinet body extended with five Deputy Prime Ministers. All five Deputy Prime Ministers are the military generals and a former military officer in the Navy.

Five Deputy Prime Ministers involve: Vice-Senior General Soe Win - Deputy Prime Minister; General Mya Tun Oo - Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for the Ministry of Defense; Lieutenant General Soe Htut - Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for the Ministry of Home Affairs; Admiral Tin Aung San - Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Win Shein - Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for the Ministry of Planning and Finance.
