7 PDF terrorists who committed 11 assassinations in Yangon seized

The State Administration Council (SAC) released an announcement on February 10 that seven members of Yangon’s Hlaing Township #PDFs who were involved in committing #extrajudicial_assassinations against the soft targets in townships of Yangon in 2022 and early 2023 including Kamayut, Insein, Hlaing and Mayangon townships have been arrested.

Two gunmen committed a terror gunshot against the deputy-manager of Shwe Wah soap factory when he was going to the factory on foot on January 30 morning. The victim died on the spot in the incident.

The security forces arrested one of those who was involved in the assassination, namely Tin Soe, on February 7 in No. 3 Ward, Hlaing Township. The other crime partner namely Aye Thein who was the link in making network among the #terrorists to commit the abovementioned assassination at his home located in No. 2 Ward in the compound of Shwe Wah Soap Factory, Hlaing Township.

In addition, another participant in the assassination namely Chitko was arrested on that evening in Ward No. (8), Khema Road (9), in Kamayut Township, according to the SAC.

According to the confession made by the arrested criminals, Aung Zaw Linn who managed and provided weapons and necessary ammunitions for the assassination was arrested on February 8 evening by the security forces at his home located at No. (1470/A) Hlaing Tharay Township, Yamethin Road.

According to the confession made by Aung Zaw Lin, another two Hlaing PDF members known as Aung Phyo and Pyae Phyo Nyein, who committed the assassinations, were arrested on February 9 in (16/a) Ward, Samadhi (1) Road in Thingangyun Township. Another one Nyi Nyi Htwe was arrested at his home at No. (556), Hlaing Tharay Township respectively.

According to the confessions made by the arrested terrorists, the Hlaing PDF terrorists committed 11 extrajudicial assassinations against innocent civilians, including veterans as alleged informers in Yangon’s different townships.

According to their confessions, the Hlaing PDF was formed with 12 members led by Wei Phyo Han form NLD party, former MP of the Regional Hluttaw, and Kyoe Kyar and Aung Zaw Lin, who are remaining to arrest.

Authorities continue investigations to arrest others who committed the terrorist acts.
