Thingyan pavilion constructions started in Yangon

The construction projects for pavilions for Myanmar’s traditional water festival have been commenced in Yangon; and two places have been designated for Walking Thingyan in Yangon.

Pavilions are being constructed in People’s Square Park and in front of the Yangon City Hall at the time being.

The Central Pavilion, district pavilions and departmental pavilions at Yangon Region level for the upcoming #Water_Festival_2023 are planned to construct at the People’s Square Park, according to the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC).

“Walking Thingyan will be convened at two places in Yangon. They will be at the City Hall and beside the Bandoola Park. What is more, there will be splashing pavilions and walking Thingyan at the People’s Square Park,” the Yangon Region Mayor Bo Htay told NP News.

Traditional dancing troupes, entertainments and performances will be involved at the State-sponsored pavilions in Yangon.

Yangon Region resumed traditional and cultural associated festivals at the People’s Square Park since Thidingyut lighting festival, Tazaungdaing festival, Christmas and New Year Countdown festival under tight and systematic security schemes.

Good and organized security arrangements are projected to guard this year Myanmar traditional Water Festival 2023.

The traditional Water Festival was banned to convene in 2020 under the authority of Covid-19 restriction. Also, it wasn’t able to be convened in 2021 due to the unrest political situations and threats of terror plots by the terrorists NUG/CRPH and PDFs.

However, in 2022, both the Central Government and the Yangon Region Government arranged the traditional Thingyan festival at their best efforts providing tight security.
