Over 3000 prisoners released in New Year Amnesty

A total of 3015 prisoners including foreigners have been pardoned by the State Administration Council (SAC) today on the new year day of Myanmar calendar (April 17).
The prisoners were released as per Criminal Procedure Code Section 401(1), according to the SAC.
There involved 98 foreign inmates including five Sri Lanka citizens who were detained in Insein Prison and will be deported.
Five Sri Lanka citizens are Mr.R.R.GAMINI, Mr.M.M.R.D DILSHAN, Mr.L.S.J NANAYAKKARA, Mr.V.G.L.R KUMARA and Mr.L.H.N KARUNASINGHE, according to the SAC announcement.
