The population density of Yangon is the highest in the country with nine million people residing in it.
The Ministry of Immigration and Population issues an Annual Estimated Population Number to facilitate the utilization of statistics for policy-making and project planning by various governmental organizations.
On 1st October, the Ministry notified that Myanmar’s total estimated population is 56.2 million.
Mandalay Region and Shan State are the second-most populous regions, each with a total population of 6.8 million.
Similarly, Kayah State has the lowest population, with 0.4 million people, while Chin State is the second least populous state, with 0.5 million people.
