Myanmar’s energy minister talks with Russian advisor to construct oil refinery in Myanmar

According to the statement released by the State Administration Council (SAC), Myanmar’s Union Minister for Energy held a talk for energy cooperation with Russia, to construct an oil refinery in Myanmar during the 6th Russia Energy Week International Forum (REW).
The Union Minister Ko Ko Lwin met with the delegation from Roscongress Investment-RCI led by Mr. A Segey Vladmirovish on 7th October, according to the SAC statement.
During their discussion, constructing oil refinery and deep-sea port where bulk oil tankers can dock were highlighted.
In addition, Mr. A Segey Vladimrovish also discussed matters relating to the invitation of Myanmar Representatives to attend the 2024 Energy Forum in Vladivostokin and escalating the bilateral economic cooperation.
The Energy Minister of Myanmar recently held discussions saying that to address the energy deficiency, Myanmar is actively engaging in collaborations with various partner nations, including Russia. Focal Persons responsible for each energy sector have already been assigned to facilitate these cooperative efforts. Russia has also designated focal persons in place to advance bilateral cooperation within the energy sector.
The Union Minister also added that relating to the construction of the oil refinery factory, closer coordination is essential for the advancement of the refinery process to produce energy at the international standards.
