Russian Orthodox Church to be built in Yangon

The Russian Orthodox Church will be built in North Dagon Township, Yangon, according to the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC).

To commemorate the 75th year of friendship between Myanmar and Russia, Orthodox Church Temple will be built on the land located at plot No. (F-6/B), No. (34) Extension Ward, North Dagon Township, Yangon Region which has a total land area of 1.25 acres, the YCDC said.

A discussion on Orthodox Church Temple construction was held between Yangon Mayor Bo Htay and Russian Orthodox Bishop of Southeast Asia, His Eminence Metropolitan Sergiy in a few days.

During the meeting, the Yangon Mayor promised to His Eminence Metropolitan Sergiy to implement the constructions as soon as possible.

Yangon Mayor added that Myanmar authorities will assist in arranging the water and electricity supply by coordinating with relevant departments.
