1st Myanmar-Russia Maritime Security Exercise launched

The 1st Myanmar-Russia Maritime Security Exercise, shortly known as MARUMEX, was launched at Thilawa Port of Yangon on 5th November.

The exercise will be conducted from 7th November to 9th at 85 sea miles west from Myeik City.

Myanmar Commander-in-Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing was welcomed by navy troops of the two countries at the launching event at Thilawa Port.

During the event, Myanmar’s Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Moe Aung and Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Nikolai A Evmenov took salute of the naval parade companies of both countries and delivered opening speeches and declared the launching of the exercise.

The MARUMEX will comprise protecting measures for air and water surface and maritime security measures with participation of aircraft and naval vessels from both sides.
