Hsu/ Pearl (NP News) – Dec 18

Local people reported that the Kok Nai Bridge which is a critical crossing point along the Asia Highway crucial for border trading was intentionally sabotaged and detonated by terrorists.

Reports suggest that the Kok Nai Bridge along the Asia Highway was sabotaged by the allied groups of KNU and PDF terrorists. The bridge is located in Kawkareik Township, Kayin State, along the Asia Highway.

A local resident said to NP News, "The Kok Nai Bridge is located at the exit of Kawkareik on the Asia Highway. I'm uncertain about the exact time of the explosion, but I've heard that the bridge has been destroyed. There are also reports of the Tawnaw Bridge being exploded. Due to the restricted access, we do not have precise information about the current situation there."

The Kok Nai Bridge, a reinforced concrete structure spanning 196 feet in length and 40 feet in width, has reportedly been destroyed by a mine explosion.

Lately, there have been numerous sabotages and explosions occurring along the Myawaddy-Kawkareik Asia Highway.

Since December 1st, affiliated groups of the KNU and PDF terrorists launched raids on security outposts around Kawkareik, deploying disproportionately massive troop forces, and hostilities have escalated there.

As a consequence of these armed conflicts, the transportation of commodity flow along the Myawaddy-Kawkareik has been stopped up to 17th December.
