The news sources from Padan and Minbu told NP News that five people, including a 2-year-old child, were killed when the AA insurgent group opened fire on a passenger car on the Minbu-Padan road in Magway Region.

The incident occurred on 8 May at an estimated 2 pm in Magway Region.

“A passenger car from Padan to Ann was fired. The car was along with students. Near Peingyaysan, about ten of AA insurgents fired at the car. There were two kids in that car. The bodies of a mother and a child were difficult to apart,” the source told NP News.

As a result of the shooting, 5 people, including a 2-year-old child, were killed among the 16 people riding in the HONDAI-type glass car.

“The driver’s legs are broken. A passenger who did not die drove to the hospital by that car. Five passengers including 2-year-old kid died,” he added.

He said that the passengers in the passenger car that was shot were residents of Ann Township, who had been displaced to the Padan when the attacks broke out, and were returning to send their children to school as basic education schools reopened.
