Kayah State Govt rebuilds Loikaw after catastrophe of war

The Kayah State Government has been conducting the rehabilitation processes and rebuilding the Loikaw City involving accessibility to water and electricity for the city-dwellers who return from fleeing the war after the KNPP, KNDF and PDF terrorists fully retreated from the city.

The terrorists initiated military assaults in Loikaw and surrounding areas in December 2021, taking cover of the residential buildings, religious and health buildings.

On 30 September 2022, the KNDF terrorists shot a passenger flight with sniper at the Loikaw Airport injuring one while the passenger aircraft of Yangon-Naypyidaw-Loikaw-Yangon was about to land at the Loikaw Airport.

On 15 January 2023, the KNDF and allied PDF terrorists launched military attack at the ethnic people attending the opening ceremony of the 71st Kayah State Day, leaving some residents dead and injured.

On 13 November 2023, the terrorists attacked Loikaw University and abducted educational employees and students. The terrorists destroyed properties owned by the Loikaw University.

After the Loikaw City and surrounding areas were combed by the Tatmadaw’s military measures for six months, the KNDF, KNPP and PDF terrorists retreated and left the city in June and July.

Now, the Kayah State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin and the Commander of Eastern Command Maj-Gen Zaw Min Latt inspected rehabilita­tion processes, implementing to provide water and electricity in Loikaw City and surrounding area.
