A source closely monitoring the situation told NP News that in the ongoing battle in Taung Hkam, the TNLA is suffering heavy casualties. Few members of the Palaung ethnics are wearing TNLA uniforms, with most participants appearing to be from the PDFs.
The TNLA has endured substantial losses in the over-a-month long battle near military camps in Nawnghkio Township, in the Taung Hkam area.
"We personally observed the operation in Taung Hkam," the source stated.
"Residents of nearby villages also reported it. The TNLA has a limited presence, primarily consisting of their officers. There are also Bamar PDFs who have switched to TNLA uniforms. Danu PDFs from Lawksawk and Nawnghkio, in addition few MNDAA members, are involved in the joint attack."
“Most of the dead bodies we've seen were in TNLA uniforms,” the source said. According to the available information, the majority of forces involved in the Taung Hkam conflict are from the PDFs.
"We've personally seen Bamar people wearing TNLA uniforms and speaking Burmese," the source explained.
Based on information obtained by The Statesman, the military has been intensifying its efforts to defend Taung Hkam, sending reinforcements and launching counterattacks that have caused substantial casualties among the TNLA.
Taung Hkam is a strategically crucial area for both the TNLA and the military.
