Flood victims to receive 800,000 Kyats in assistance

It is reported that each victim of the flooding will receive 800,000 kyats in support.
The National Disaster Management Committee issued the above announcement on September 18.
As a result of continuous rain in some regions and states including in the Naypyidaw Council Territory, has caused flooding in 56 townships and affecting wards and villages across Naypyidaw, Kayah, Kayin, Bago, Magway, Mandalay, Shan, and Ayeyawady regions.
According to the announcement as of September 18, reports from the wards and villages in the 56 affected townships indicate that 268 fatalities and 88 are still missing due to the flooding.
It has been reported that the government will support the families of those who died due to natural disasters with a total of 800,000 kyats to each person: 500,000 kyats from the National Disaster Management fund and 300,000 kyats from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement.
In addition, the relevant state and regional government bodies will provide additional support, as stated by the National Disaster Management Committee.
It is also reported that plans to provide necessary assistance will continue based on the extent of injuries and the destruction of buildings.
