Myanmar authorities deport 20 Chinese national scammers

According to a statement from the authorities, 20 Chinese nationals who involved in cyber scam operations in Yangon and Mandalay, have been deported to China, according to the statemen issued by the State Administration Council on September 29.

It has been reported by the Ministry of Home Affairs that, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies from Myanmar and China, there are organized criminals led by the wanted suspect, Chen Ta Wei operating in Yangon and Mandalay, engaging in cyber scam activities.

According to the statement from the authorities, it has been revealed that during an operation in July, a total of 20 Chinese nationals, including Chen Ta Wei and Yan Lyan, were identified and arrested.

It is reported that the 20 Chinese nationals, including the arrested suspect Chen Ta Wei, were deported to China on September 19 for further legal action in accordance with Chinese procedures.

The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Myanmar Police Force are actively investigating cyber scams and and implementing effective actions to tackle the issue.

Furthermore, the statement highlights that efforts will persist in working with neighboring countries to prevent cyber scams and online gambling in Myanmar's border areas, following national laws and protocols.
