Former Mandalay chief Dr. Zaw Myint Maung passes away

Former chief minister of Mandalay Region, Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, reportedly passed away this morning (November 7).

At the time of his passing, he was 73 years old and had been receiving treatment at the Mandalay General Hospital. He reportedly passed away this morning around 3 am after losing consciousness.

A close associate of Dr. Zaw Myint Maung told NP News, "He had been unconscious for around two days and passed away early this morning. A memorial service is currently taking place at his father's house where his body is also present. He died from leukemia, and it is reported that he stopped responding on the 5th September."

During the memorial ceremony held at the home in Pyigyidagon Township this morning, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung and other members of the Mandalay regional government attended to pay their respects.

It is also reported that Dr. Zaw Myint Maung was granted a health exemption before his demise.
