SAC declaes over K50 bln received as donations for flood-affected people

More than 50 billion Kyats donated by well-wishers were received for the flood-affected people, according to the statistics released by the State Administration Council (SAC).
On 9 October, the enthusiastic well-wishers have donated cash with the amount as mentioned for the third times for the activities of flood rescue and rehabilitation.
The event of receiving the donations was held at the Yangon Region Government’s Office and over 11.97 billion kyats were received from the event, according to the SAC’s statistics.
Similarly, it is reported that the first donations for rehabilitation of flood-affected areas was received more than 32.2 billion Kyats on 21 September and over 10 billion Kyats was received for second time on 28 in the same month.
Therefore, the SAC’s statistics stated that more than 50 billion Kyats were received in total at present.
It is also reported that the government plans to spend 30 billion Kyats for flood relief and rehabilitation activities and SAC has instructed to complete the reconstruction works of flood-affected areas by 15 March 2025.
Due to the remnant of Typhoon Yagi, floods and landslides occurred in some regions and states including Naypyidaw Council Territory and the death toll reached 433, and 79 people missing, in addition, the flood also killed 17626 animals, according to the SAC’s statistics.
