Grand opening ceremony of 5th National Sport Festival 2024 held in Naypyidaw

Naypyidaw- The opening ceremony of Myanmar's National Sport Festival 2024 was held on 9 December at Wanna Theikdhi Stadium in Naypyaidaw. This festival resumes during the reign of the State Administration Council (SAC) after one decade.
The festival started with initiative of live performances with music famous celebrities. At the beginning of the festival, Myanmar Motions Picture Organization (MMPO) with famous artists honored with the Myanmar traditional dances for opening in honor and regard of Myanmar Traditional Water Festival was recorded by the UNSCO recently.
During the grand opening, 16 aerial skydivers from Tatmadaw (Air Forces) colorfully landed from over 6000 feet high to give honor to the 5th National Sport Festival 2024. And athletes from regions and states across the nation were introduced. Myanmar's elder players who had competed at Olympic and South-East Asia Games and won the gold, silver and bronze titles, entered into the stadium carrying the Olympic Flag and raised it proudly.
After that, the Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) delivered opening and thankful speech to the athletes and audience. In the speech,he also urged the young athletes to become individually outstanding as pride of Myanmar.
In this festival, many sports such as football, track and field, volleuyball, Futsal, Swimming etc. as well as Myanmar traditional sport, cane ball will be competed. In addition, there are four types of sports for disabled athletes with full of sport spirit such as swimming, chess for visual athletes, sitting volleyball, run jump throw. The regional and state level matches will be started on 10 December.
During the sport festival, over 12,000 athletes from regions and states including for ministries and governmental department offices, will compete.
