A local source from northern Shan State informed The Statesman Journal that the TNLA, retreating from Taungkham, is preparing to send Burmese PDF forces to Nawnghkio Township for defensive strategy.
During the assault in Taungkham, Burmese PDF and Danu PDF forces, in coordination with the TNLA, used offensive attacks. The TNLA, leading from the rear and positioning the PDFs at the front, resulted in significant casualties on the PDF side.
Currently, after the military has fully gained control of Taungkham, it is focusing on advancing toward Nawnghkio Township. To do so, the military has been using Burmese PDF forces to carry out assaults. In terms of both terrain and morale, the military appears to have the upper hand, leading to significant casualties on the side of the TNLA and its allied forces.
In this situation, it is reported that the TNLA is forcing its allied PDF forces to reinforce their position for defensive purposes.
"A lot of conflicts between the PDF and TNLA are clearly noticeable. It is said that PDF forces were seen leaving by car from the Kutkai - Theinni - Lashio road. They seem to want to move toward Nawnghkio. When they were called, it appeared they were ambushed. Currently, the TNLA is engaged in clashes as far as Nawnghkio, and in Taungkham, once they reached a stronghold, PDF forces were deployed to strengthen their position," said a local source.
A social media account supporting the TNLA, under the name Mai A Naing, posted about the situation in Taungkham battlefield. The post acknowledged the increasing morale of the military, while also mentioning that more soldiers are deserting from the TNLA, which has been fighting in Taungkham. "A lot of these soldiers are really terrified by the actions of the military," said a military source.
