Myanmar to avoid performing acts in Thingyan celebration as tribute to earthquake victims

The Information Team of the State Administration Council (SAC) announced that as the entire nation is in a period of mourning, this year's Thingyan festival is scheduled to be celebrated without entertainment activities such as singing and dancing. Instead, it will be observed peacefully and joyfully in accordance with traditional customs.
Due to the severe earthquake disaster currently affecting the country, people in Naypyidaw Council Territory, Sagaing, Bago, Magway, Mandalay regions, and Shan State have suffered mass fatalities, injuries, and losses.
Given that the entire nation is in mourning, this year's traditional Myanmar Thingyan festival will be held without festive singing, dancing and active performing activities. Instead, it will be celebrated peacefully and harmoniously in line with cultural traditions.
