Chairman of the State Administration Council, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing stated on 25 June that election is being planned to hold within four weeks starting from the third week of December this year.
He made this statement during his opening speech at the Peace Forum, which is set to begin in Nay Pyi Taw on June 27, where he addressed election-related matters.
“We are planning to complete the elections within four weeks, starting from the third week of December this year and the second week of January 2026. We are currently finalizing the exact dates. Since this is a busy period, we are carefully considering which dates to choose and which methods to conduct for the elections. We are working to make it as effective as possible,” said the SAC Chairman.
He also emphasized that ensuring all eligible voters are able to vote is important and that voting is a personal right, with the responsibility to ensure that right falls on the government.
“I want to say that we are firmly determined and taking actions to conduct a free and fair election,” the SAC Chairman added. –
