Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to lead new State Security and Peace Commission

The State Security and Peace Commission was formed today (July 31) under the leadership of Acting President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Forces, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
The State Security and Peace Commission was established by Order No. 4/2025 of the National Defense and Security Council (NDSC).
The NDSC, while exercising legislative, executive and judicial powers under Section 427 of the Constitution, has established the State Security and Peace Commission to provide necessary guidance and effectively coordinate for the successful holding of the multi-party democratic general election.
The commission is chaired by Acting President, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, with Vice-Chairman Gen Soe Win, and members include the Prime Minister and the Ministry of National Planning, Union Minister U Nyo Saw, Chief Executive of the National Defence and Security Council Office U Aung Lin Dway, Union Minister for Defence, General Maung Maung Aye, Union Minister for Home Affairs, Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, Union Minister for Home Affairs, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, U Than Swe, Union Minister for Border Affairs, Lt-Gen Ya Pyae, Chief of General Staff in Myanmar Army General Kyaw Swar Lin, and he Chief of Military Security Affairs Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo.
The National Defense and Security Council meeting held on January 31, 2025, granted a six-month extension to the State Administration Council (SAC) to continue carrying out its national responsibilities. After the term expired on July 31, the NDSC did not extend the term of the SAC again and instead formed and assigned the responsibilities to the State Security and Peace Commission.
