Ministry of Hotels and Tourism introduces a Tourist Visa-On-Arrival for travelers holding passports from Japan, South Korea, and Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, starting 21 October 2025 and continuing through 20 October 2026 under a one-year pilot program.
According to the ministry’s announcement, eligible travelers entering Myanmar by air may obtain the visa application form free of charge at international airports and must submit it with two 1.2 x 1.5-inch colour photos. The visa fee is US$50, allowing a 30-day stay for tourism purposes. The visa will be issued solely for tourism purposes and cannot be converted to other visa types.
Passports must be valid for at least six months; travelers who do not meet this requirement will be denied entry and returned on their arriving flight. Overstays will incur standard penalties.
Visitors must comply with Myanmar’s laws and may travel freely in areas open to foreigners, excluding security-restricted zones. Entry may be refused if travelers lack security clearance or appear on the Immigration Department’s blacklist. The visa-on-arrival holders may depart from any international airport in Myanmar.
