A source close to the issue told The Statesman Journal that a mysterious sealed building exists in Kyaukhat, a place notorious for online fraud.
Although there is no additional information to verify this mysterious case, the sealed building is reportedly located near a KTV in Kyaukhat, according to the above-mentioned source.
He said, “There is a long, two-story building that is sealed off.”
He explained that this is the only building of its kind in the area, and all comments about it are merely opinions.
“They deliver food and other supplies, mostly from the site itself. It seems only the Chinese are involved. The layout of the building is such that it can accommodate many people. People around there don't dare to come near it. There are people inside. There are also guards outside,” he said.
He also stated that, since the openings have been closed off to prevent visibility from the outside, it is difficult to verify whether online fraud operations or other activities are taking place inside.
When asked to comment on the building, he said he didn't know for sure, but that he heard the occasional sound of a party being held there, but it was inconvenient to go near it to see.
“Sometimes there might be parties, I’m not sure. I can hear music and other sounds. However, at night, people can’t get close enough to listen. What I’ve heard is that they are shooting,” he said.
The investigation into illegal online gambling, online fraud, and crimes committed in the Myawaddy Township, including Shwe Kokko, Maehtawthalay (KK Park) and Kyaukhat areas of Kayin State, is ongoing. The trilateral cooperation between Myanmar, China, and Thailand is also being continuously enhanced to combat online fraud and online gambling.
The government considers online gambling fraud to be a matter of national responsibility, and continues to coordinate with local forces as well as neighboring governments to ensure its complete eradication from Myanmar.
