The Statesman Journal has learned that plans are underway to hold the Youth Peace Forum 2026, which will bring together young people from all walks of life, aged 18 to 35.
The forum will be held from January 13 to 15 next year, and will initially include representatives from ministries and experts from various fields selected for the discussion, youth representatives from regions and states, youth with disabilities, youth volunteers from community-based organizations, youth from charitable organizations and NGO youth networks, youth representatives from various ethnic cultures and religious beliefs, and ethnic youth from border areas and IDP camps.
Currently, National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) is beginning to make the necessary preparations to hold this forum, and is preparing in detail the motto, themes, objectives, design and structure of the discussion, methodology, invitees to the event, young people who will participate in the discussions, and topics to be discussed.
The current situations in the country, social, economic and political challenges, and international pressures are having an impact on young people from all walks of life across the country, creating some obstacles to their psychological safety, well-being, educational and employment opportunities, and hopes for the future.
Therefore, the Youth Peace Forum 2026 aims to create a platform for young people to share their views on peace, strengthen mutual trust, and explore their role in promoting social harmony.
Furthermore, it is necessary to identify ways for young people to contribute to the stability and future of the country, and it is very important for young people from different ethnic groups, religious beliefs, and socio-economic backgrounds to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of peace in Myanmar.
