Security forces are reportedly facing some difficulties in trying to quickly solve crimes in Muse, a large town on the Myanmar-China border in northern Shan State, as the number of displaced people increases.
Muse town, being a border trade hub, attracts many settlers. While there are honest workers who live and earn their livelihoods there, it is also reported that some people commit various crimes and avoid authorities.
"Muse is a border town, so there are many people from all walks of life. There are good people, but some are fleeing from various crimes. Currently, security forces are operating in nine wards of the city. In order to quickly identify any incidents, the police, Tatmadaw, and people militia are working together to patrol and inspect the area day and night," said a person close to the security forces.
However, he said that there are some difficulties in collecting and analyzing information in the area of crime detection due to the large number of migrants.
“When the people under investigation are not locals, it is difficult to know exactly when they arrived and who they are. When such information is incomplete, certain parts of criminal cases become difficult to investigate,” the above-mentioned source said.
He also said that there are more than 30 groups of people militia in Muse, some of which are engaged in illegal activities.
He also said that although there have been effective detections and arrests of drug problems in the city, whether large or small, some of them have not been reported to the media.
It is reported that the security forces can only enforce law and order in nine urban wards of Muse. –
