Hsu/Htike San (NP News) - March 15

A source familiar with the matter told The Statesman journal that the National Museum (Nay Pyi Taw), located in Ottarathiri Township of the Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory, which was damaged by the earthquake, has begun reopening in phases and that all exhibition halls will soon be fully accessible again.
In contrast to the multi storey National Museum (Yangon), the National Museum (Nay Pyi Taw) is composed of interconnected single storey structures. Altogether, it comprises five buildings, labeled A through E.
Buildings A and B have already undergone renovation, and since March 10, seven exhibition halls have been open to the public daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except on Mondays and public holidays, according to the museum’s official Facebook page. Admission was free on March 10, 11, and 12.
"In Building A, you'll find the gift shop exhibition. Building B houses the prehistoric, fossil, protohistoric, historic, Myanmar painting, and fine arts exhibitions. These are the main displays currently featured in A and B," the source explained.
The six exhibition halls in Buildings C and D are still under renovation and not yet open, but they will be available soon.
"In Buildings C and D, visitors will soon see the palace exhibition and Buddhist art exhibition. The palace literature exhibition and motor vehicles used by national leaders aren't ready to be displayed yet. Building D will also feature the ASEAN exhibition, Myanmar arts exhibition, and children’s exhibition. These six halls remain closed for now but will open shortly," the source added.
Construction of the National Museum in Nay Pyi Taw commenced on June 3, 2010. The first phase, comprising Buildings A and B, opened on July 15, 2015. The remaining structures, Buildings C, D, and E, were subsequently opened on March 22, 2016. –
